Conformance

A record of where the shipping frontend diverges from Quiet Sky. These entries explain migration risk; they do not expand the canonical palette or component model.

Active conflicts

Global layers can overwrite valid Quiet Sky tokens

Migration gap

Border and accent collisions

Later shadcn definitions overwrite generic --border and --accent, the second turning the brand cyan into a grey hover fill. Current Quiet Sky surfaces must use the non-colliding line and brand aliases.

Type utility collisions

A legacy AIC @theme block hijacks three of the seven rungs. text-body renders 15/20 rather than 14/21, making it identical in size to text-title-3; text-caption is repointed to 11px rather than 12/17, colliding with micro; text-micro renders 10/14 rather than 11/15. text-qs-body, text-qs-caption, and text-qs-micro preserve the intended values.

Two competing spacing scales

Production defines no canonical Quiet Sky spacing scale. A legacy AIC family runs 4/8/16/24/32/48 and a second runs 2/4/8/12/16/20, and neither is the documented contract. Use the density tokens for rows, cards, and sections; the six --qs-space-* values in the portable package are a convenience for this reference site, not a production token.

Chart token overrides

Later OKLCH multihue chart definitions overwrite the canonical cyan sequence in the same stylesheet.

Mixed font contracts

Onest is loaded and canonical, but legacy Inter aliases and explicit display/body rules remain active in global styles and features.

Where the documentation itself diverges

Divergences owned by these five pages rather than by the frontend. Recorded here so the site does not read as more wired-in than it is.

Package gap

No prototype consumes the token file

Only the site landing page links design-system/tokens.css. Every prototype under current/ inlines its own copy of the token block instead, and the three are identical in that block. The file is a reference contract, not a build dependency, so a change here does not propagate to any prototype.

Two token names are package aliases

The radius family was authored as --r-* and the typeface as --font, both inherited from the archived 2026 proposal. Production uses --radius-* and --font-sans. The production names now carry the literal values and the old names are aliases, so the docs chrome keeps working, but only the production names should be quoted as the contract.

Three portable-only colour names

--accent, --border, and --border-strong are defined in the portable package because a standalone consumer has no shadcn layer to collide with. Frontend-bound code must use the qs- prefixed names instead, and the block is fenced in the file with that warning.

Specimens are static reproductions

Every rendered example on foundations and patterns is hand-built from tokens by demo.css. None imports a production component, so a specimen is evidence about the tokens and the visual recipe, never about behaviour. Where behaviour is the point, the page ships a labelled geometry diagram instead.

Legacy residue

Shipping, but outside the system

Do not reuse

Icing compatibility

The meeting workspace bridges older icing-* contracts to Quiet Sky semantics. The bridge is containment, not an endorsed second token system.

Legacy gradients and avatar colors

Old landing/theme gradients and multicolor avatar palettes remain in production. They are feature residue, not canonical Quiet Sky foundations.

Warning orange

Several feature contracts still model a warning state independently. Quiet Sky currently defines accent, danger, and success; orange is not promoted into the canonical palette. An archived prototype in this repo carries an instance, --color-warning: #ff6600, alongside several orange and amber avatar ramps.

Sparkles and one-off iconography

Lucide is the current Web implementation, but icon choice is not fully normalized and decorative Sparkles usage remains feature-dependent.

Inconsistent

Raw z-index values

A closed Quiet Sky layer scale exists, while raw values—including escape-hatch maximum values—still appear in product code.

Partial adoption

Contracts exist; enforcement is incomplete

Partial

Density

Regular and compact values are defined. Meeting surfaces use row-height variables and document PiP preserves the attribute, but no universal product density control exists.

Partial

Motion & layers

Timing, easing, and z-index scales are canonical targets. Existing features still use local transitions and raw stacking values.

Partial

Shared primitives

Some primitives are shared, but many Quiet Sky expressions remain feature-local. Similar controls can therefore drift.

Partial

Global canvas behavior

The semantic canvas token is present, while route shells and legacy providers still determine background behavior in parts of the product.

Not currently implemented

Proposals kept out of the current catalog

These may be useful future directions, but no universal production implementation was verified.

Proposed

Global loading ladder

No universal staged loading behavior is enforced across product surfaces.

Proposal

Universal command palette

Command-like experiences exist, but not as a canonical cross-product primitive.

Proposal

Enforced layer scale

The token scale is defined; automated or architectural enforcement was not verified.

Proposal

Sound and print contracts

No current Quiet Sky system-level guidance is implemented for sound or print.

Proposal

Universal chart table views

Accessible data-table alternatives are not a shared, verified chart contract.
